Simply Be Spring/Summer 2015

A while back I was lucky enough to attend the Simply Be Spring/Summer Preview. This was an absolutely amazing event in an impressive London penthouse, involving some lovely wine, yummy canapés, a stunning new Spring & Summer collection and lots of lovely plus size blogger babes.

Simply Be SS15 UK Plus Size Blogger Event

If you follow my Instagram you will have most likely been able to follow the events on this day as it happened and will already have gotten a glimpse into the new Simply Be collection, if not, even the more of a reason to follow me on Instagram.

I so hope the bikini top will come up to a G-Cup. #SimplyBeSS15 #preview #plussizeswimwear #plussize

Simply Be’s have by now even added a video of this preview day on their youtube channel so that you can get a first hand impression of the event in moving pictures if you pay enough attention you can even glimpse of me wearing one of my favourite Missguided dresses in this video.

 My Favourite Trends & Pieces

While then these styles were merely a preview, these lovely pieces are now, bit by bit, making their way into the Simply Be online shop. A good occasion to give you  a bit of  a closer look at the collection and my favourites.

While I am not really a fan of this years florals I am very much in love with the the clean bright colours in an almost candy colour range in combination with clean strong cuts as well as the simple monochrome styles with a hint of 60s. And lastly not to forget I like the denim. For some reason it has recently not been easy to find a nice plus size denim jacket.

Great Swimwear 2015

The one thing though that absolutely stood out to me is the Swimwear. This year simply be have really outdone themselves with their swimwear. Great colour combined with vintage lines.

swimwear

Colour Block Bikini
Polka Dot Bikini
Sports Swimsuit
Mesh Swimsuit

What is great about these swimsuits, at least some, is that Simply Be also thought of us busty ladies when designing them. Wearing a G-Cup I am simply not able to wear a “normal” swimsuit without proper cups and/or under-wires. My mom always called it “pancakes” what swimsuits without proper cups would do to a large bust. No desirable shape… The black mesh swimsuit is one of those good examples, as it contains fixed foam cups supporting and keeping the bust in shape.

My absolute favourite piece is the monochrome one piece below which will instantly transform you into a plus size bond girl.

But also the Bikinis are not to be scoffed at.  After I made a great step of confidence and bought my very first Bikini last year (read more about this here) I might be buying Bikini number 3 and 4 this year…

Missguided+ On A Girl In Size 24

The Missguided Lace Peplum Dress

I am more than excited that I was provided with a lovely peplum dress out of the new Missguided+ Plus-Size range that only launched yesterday, which I will be wearing to the Simply Be Spring /Summer Collection 2015 preview tonight. Check out the hashtag #SimplyBeSS15 if you want to watch live what will be happening.

Missguided Plus Size Lace Peplum Dress Ecom Picture

I am very much looking forward to wearing this Missguided+ beauty. The dress comes in a lace look but also in a leopard print. This might not be as extensive as a usual review but I just wanted to give you a first idea how this dress looks on a girl that is on the larger side of curvy, namely a size 24-26.

True To Size – Slightly Larger

The dress feels lovely and appears to be true to size. If anything, it is a bit on the larger side, as it fits me well while I am usually somewhere between a size 24-26 with a relatively large bust. Although I would say despite that, there is no need to size down.

More “Missguided On A Size 24”-Pictures To Come

I will be posting quite a few of these looks. So keep checking back here on the blog or make sure to follow me on Instagram. Obviously I won’t be modelling the whole 70 pieces, Unfortunately I can’t quite afford that, but I am sure I there will be quite a few interesting pieces and that there will enough to give you a good idea :). Let me know which pieces you would like to see.

Some of the things of which I can tell you that you will definitely be able to see them here soon are: the leopard print midi skirt and the beautiful cobalt blue wrap dress, in fact I  will be wearing the latter one to the British Plus Size Awards.

Complaints About Sizing Range A Little Unfair

I have seen quite a few people complaining about the sizing range ending at a size 24. I personally hope as well that the sizing range that I hope will be extended in future. However, complaining about the sizing range is unfair.

You do have to think about this from a business point of view. Missguided is a retailer that so far has only catered for women up to a size 14 (and the occasional 16). Immediately moving from this to a range which is upwardly open would be an incredibly risky move. As there is no guarantee as to how the collection performs.

Therefore this collection should be seen as a first entry into the plus-size business. Missguided are basically dipping their toe into the plus-size market. Trying to work out what works for them and what does not. I am sure there will be one or the other amazing piece and some great surprises in the future.

What Do You Think?

There are so many things I would love to her from you about. What you think about the dress and the range in general? Which of the items would you like to see on the blog?

Missguided Plus Size Range Goes Live Today

The Day Is Finally Here

The day has finally arrived today Missguided’s long awaited plus-size range goes live today.

The great news is, while in terms of sizing the range is separate from their normal range , coming in sizes 16-24, in terms of style Missguided has made an effort not to change their image or style for the larger sizes, like some other retailers unfortunately have done. Well done Missguided.

Some Killer Pieces

The starting range is  a relatively small, although it has some killer pieces. Most likely I would expect it though that this range would be extended over time. I have already fallen in love with a lot of pieces: some  great coats, clever slogan t-shirts, a selection of evening dresses and skirts and most importantly there is finally a sizeable range of plus-size co-ords.

Missguided+

Coords, Finally!

I am particularly in love with their range of co-ords. It might not be high season for co-ords anymore with summer having gone, but after I have been searching for so long for a decent two piece set I am more than happy that us plus size girls now finally have a range of plus-size co-ords available that come in tartan, grid, floral and some more patterns.

Coord Collage

These pieces are sold separately, this also gives you the chance to go for them either as top or skirt only, if you are not sold on the co-ord idea but like the print. Given that most tops in these sets, are usually crop tops, this does also means that a great range of crop tops is hitting the market And there can never be to many. (Have I said that? No way I would have said that a year ago…)

Evening Dresses

The range of dresses has a few lovely pieces in there. One of which I will actually be wearing to the British Plus Size Awards this weekend. This beauty:

d3106553 with shadow

The the velvet wrap dress

The dress I will be wearing though will be in a colour I have not yet spotted on the page, but I am sure will be on soon. I was dead excited to be able to try this dress on pre-release. I am absolutely loving it. Another thing I can tell you about this dress is that while the model is a good looking girl, this dress looks even better, when worn by a woman with a figure that is much more on the curvy-side. I will be wearing this dress in a size 24.

Excited About What Might Come In Future

As you might have heard I am a bit biased as I am part of the Missguided team, and it was dead excited to see this range come from idea to existence. However, to me it is even more exciting what might come in future. As I am personally hoping and expecting that this range might get extended in future.

And while there are some pieces that I adore, there is range for extension and improvement, given the size of opportunities and styles out there. I for example would say that a next collection could even go much bolder than this one already has done. I would also love to see a wider range of sizes and some glamorous eveningmaxi & party dresses in the so well known Missguided style.

What Do You Think?

What do you think about the range? What is your favourite? And what would you love to see in future?

Dont Miss The Anna Scholz Sale

Anna Scholz – Luxury Plus Size Designer

I had firmly promised myself not to spend any more money on clothes this month… and then the Anna Scholz sale came along…

Anna Scholz really is a great designer. I might not love all of her designs, but there are definitely some awesome, awesome pieces in her collection. One of my all-time favourites is a stunning peplum dress with the most stunning print I have ever seen that I have reviewed a while back.

A Sale That Definitely Caught My Attention

As much as I like Anna’s creations, unless she does a cooperation with a high street retailer like recently with Simply Be in the UK and sheego in Germany. So, when I saw the below status about the current sale on Facebook, it really caught my attention.

It might be a bit difficult to see in the numbers in this image. They have reduced dresses in the £200 to £420 range to £37-£85 and there are skirts that were in the range of £139 to £189 are now between £27-37. You  are getting the gist of this.

So if you are like me, liking Anna’s collection but don’t quite have the cash for it, it might be really worth it to head over to the Anna Scholz page and have a look round.

So as said above, that has made me break my no-spending promise, but I won’t tell you yet what. This will be revealed in a hopefully fabulous outfit post.

What Do You Think?

What do you think about Anna Scholz. Is there any piece that might make you break your spending limits? Let me know in the comments. I would love to hear from you?

Extra 15% Off Sale Items – Plus-Size Bargains at Asos

Update: The Discount Code for an extra 15% off has unfortunately expired but the reductions up to -75% are still available

Discount Code GET15

Asos is currently giving you an extra 15% off their reduced items,  using the code “GET15“. This code will be valid till Monday the 8th of September.

Usually I am not the one to shout about reductions, so many were happening recently. In this case however, there are a few real bargains and I had to work hard on controlling myself not to go on a giant spree. So I thought this one would probably be quite interesting to you.

Sale items are reduced  up to 75% and with the extra 15%, there are quite a few great bargains available. In fact also the jumpsuit I have written about in an earlier post is available in this offer:

New Look Inspire Aztec Print Bandeau Jumpsuit

At full price this plus-size jumpsuit was £22.99. With the discount and using the code, you can get it now at £13.60, which really is an amazing bargain.

What’s In The Sale

As it was to expect most items are summer lines, but there are also some great transitional pieces amongst them. Also most of these summer pieces will be great to see you through autumn and maybe even winter if you mix up the combination a bit, for example with a leggings, a cardigan or maybe even Wingz. In case you have not heard about them yet, Wingz  are separate sleeves that you can wear under a sleeveless top, giving you a bit of extra coverage and great for turning a summer dress into a lovely autumn dress.

My Sale Wish List

There are actually a lot of great items available within this sale that I had my eye on for a while. The truth is unfortunately though, neither my wallet nor my wardrobe space is infinite. But one can dream…. and so I put the below wish list together.

Ultimately I Could Not Resist

As mentioned above, neither my wardrobe space nor my wallet are infinite and I actually had promised myself not to buy any further  clothes till next payday. However, looking at the choice available I at least wanted to try a few pieces on. And so I ended up ordering the 3 lovely items below. The plan is to keep only the 1-2 items I like the most. However, I know myself… f I like them on myself it will be very unlikely that one of them is  actually going to get sent back.

1: ASOS CURVE Pleated Midi Skirt In Bright Floral Print – Was £35.00, Now £24.00, With Code £20.40

The key to a great plus-size fashion bargain…

As the very first thing, please forgive me terrible pun in the headline. But now to the outfit: When I was last at the Simply Be store in the Manchester Arndale Center I was looking for a top to go with the polka dot skirt from Castaluna. Both are featured in  my last outfit post. Before I went I gave myself one promise, this time, I would buy nothing else but the one shirt.

How to expect… I broke my promise

However, I am me and like it was to expect, I broke my promise as I came across this beauty:     So, obviously I could not resist. And once again I walked out of the shop not only with the see through daisy shirt for my last post , but also with the above shirt with peter pan collar and a beautiful key print. However due to that I now I had the same “problem” again, only the other way round. Now I had a shirt that needed a great skirt or trousers to go with. Well… “needed”…

The Solution

So I had a quick look at Asos Curve. And once again I was very lucky and spotted a bargain, a  leather skater skirt reduced  from £85 to only £34 pounds and it was still available in my size.

A true bargain

When I received the skirt I was quite impressed. It is a great quality and at this price an absolute bargain. At the time of me writing this it is still available in the sizes 20 and 24-28.

Please excuse the image quality but it was, like usually, a very busy day and by the time we got to take the pictures the sun had almost gone.

I combined the skirt and the top with my trusty black wedge heels which  I bought off Deichmann ages ago and still absolutely love. And I also added my £10 satchel from Tesco, which I also bought a while back. This bag really does not look like a £10 pound bag, even if the true quality is not the best. But if you don’t expect it to last you for the next decade it is still a great bag. All in all this whole outfit is quite a bargain: it came at the price of approximately only 70 pound in total (and that is including the shoes & bag)

Shirt: Simply be – £14 (available here)

Leather Skirt: Asos – £34 (available here)

Shoes: Deichmann – ca £20

Bag: Tesco – £10   I love stumbling over little bargains like the largely reduced skirt or even the cheap Tesco bag that did not look like a cheap supermarket bag. What was your favourite fashion bargain? Do you have a secret tip where to find them? I would love to hear from you. Signoff
